Two former Ohio State football players, Ezekiel Elliott and Michael Thomas, were named among the top 20 players in the NFL by their peers.

Yesterday was quite a good day for New Orleans Saints wide receiver and former Ohio State Buckeye Michael Thomas. Not only was he named by NFL players as the 13th best player, it was also reported by ESPN.com he will soon be paid a lot of money.

Reportedly the most money a wide receiver has ever signed for in fact, as Thomas is going into his fourth season with the Saints. It is expected the contract is a 5-year, 100 million dollar deal.

Thomas deserves his spot in the top 100 and he especially deserves to be paid like an elite receiver too.

He has upped his receiving yards in each of his first three seasons with the Saints and currently sits at 3,787 yards for his career. Thomas also led the league in receptions last year with 125 and has become known as one of those guys where if you throw it anywhere in his vicinity he will likely catch it.

In his three years with the Saints Thomas has already set multiple NFL and team records.

He has the most catches in NFL history by a player in his first three seasons. He is only the sixth wide receiver in NFL history to total over 1,000 receiving yards each of his first three years in the league.

More from Ohio State Buckeyes

He is the leader in single season receiving yards for the Saints, No. 1 and No. 2 in receptions and is the only New Orleans player to have ever reached over 100 catches in a season.

He’s recorded over 100 receptions twice in three years.

It’s pretty obvious that signing back Thomas was the right move for the Saints and I am excited to see what he does next year.

Ezekiel Elliott also made the top 100 list as well. He is ranked number 18 this season by his NFL peers.

Elliott is hoping to be in the same boat as Thomas and get a huge deal prior to his fourth NFL season, but that is going to be an uphill battle with Jerry Jones and the Cowboys. Zeke has been fantastic in his first three seasons with Dallas as he was a legitimate MVP candidate in his rookie season and in 2018 as well.

Honestly, I think Zeke was ranked too low in this years rankings. Coming into it I thought he had a legitimate chance at being a top 10 player but his NFL peers thought otherwise.

dark. Next. Buckeyes' culture sets them apart from rest of CFB

Hopefully he gets a deal done soon so we can all enjoy watching him tear up NFL defenses again next year.
