It has been a huge day for Ohio State recruiting with talented players committing to join the 2020 class. Most importantly, they are defensive players.

Ohio State head coach Ryan Day had convinced talented offensive players to join his first recruiting class which was predictable. After all he has proven to be one of the great offensive minds in college football.

But the new Buckeye head coach was slow to bring those on the other side of the ball on board. That’s no longer the case with Cody Simon and Darrion Henry joining the 2020 Ohio State recruiting class.

Recently he landed a top 50 player in cornerback Clark Phillips to join four star safety Lejond Cavazos in the defensive backfield. Now coach Day has filled in other positions.

Let’s take a look at the two latest recruits who committed to play for the Buckeyes today.

Cody Sims, Jersey City, New Jersey:  Sims is ranked the 10th best linebacker and the No. 154 player in the class. He is listed at 6 ft. 1, 218 pounds. Ryan Day was in need of a linebacker in the 2020 class and he landed a good one.

Darrion Henry , Cincinnati, OH:  The defensive lineman finally committed to play for the Buckeyes today. Although it was expected, Buckeye fans who follow recruiting breathed a sigh of relief when he made his announcement.

Henry is rated the 11th best defensive tackle in the 2020 class and the No. 121 player overall. There is a possibility Henry could play on the edge for the Buckeyes because he is extremely athletic.

He is a versatile player for defensive line coach Larry Johnson, and you know how he can use those guys.

Having Sims and Henry on board along with Phillips and Cavazos has proven Ryan Day can bring in outstanding defensive players to Ohio State. Not just the guys who like to score points.
