Three Burning Questions

  1. How will Justin Fields look in his debut in the Scarlet and Grey? Even against a defensively challenged opponent like FAU, will the pressure of being a starter (assuming that he is the starter) lead to a slow start offensively for the Buckeyes?
  2. Will the combination of a new quarterback and new offensive line lead to a myriad of mistakes? Can a young offensive line create holes for J.K. Dobbins and time for Justin Fields?
  3. Can the Ohio State defense (which was poor in 2018) improve enough to hold off a surprisingly potent FAU offense?

More from Ohio State Buckeyes

There are some very intriguing factors to consider when viewing this matchup. Most of that is due to the excitement and speculation of a new season with so many changes.

The success of FAU’s offense in recent years can look scary when Ohio State fans remember how frustrating the defense has been as of late, but now that Mike Singletary off to the NFL, the Owls lose their most valuable offensive asset.

Because of the additions and subtractions to this new offensive unit for Ohio State, expect a bumpy start. I don’t expect the Buckeyes to ever be down by much in this game, if at all.

However, it may take a quarter or two to get Justin Fields settled in.

Look for the Buckeyes to get off to a slow start, but pull away fairly early in the second quarter. Final score: 52-21 Ohio State over FAU. The Buckeyes are 1-0 in preview world!
