Ohio State Football: Recruiting class filling up in a ‘big’ way
Ryan Day’s latest commit was a big get as the four-star offensive tackle flipped his commitment to join the 2020 Ohio State recruiting class.
While the 2020 Ohio State recruiting class is far from being a finished product the offensive line unit is full. Yesterday Grant Toutant announced he was decommitting from Penn State and will play for the Scarlet and Gray.
That gives Ryan Day five offensive linemen in his 2020 class.
Toutant is a four star offensive tackle from Warren,Michigan. He is ranked as the 27th best tackle and the No. 325 player overall in the 247Sports Composite.
Landing Toutant is further proof of what coach Day looks for in tackle recruits, size. He is listed at 6 ft. 7, 320 pounds and isn’t the tallest tackle in the class.
That honor goes to Tayler Leroux who stands 6 ft. 8 and weighs 355 pounds. Parris Johnson, the No. 1 OT in the 2020 class, is 6 ft. 7 1/2 . 295 pounds.
Coach Day may want to keep Ohio State basketball coach Chris Holtmann away from these three guys. He may try to recruit at least one to play power forward during the winter.
Now for the “little” offensive linemen in the 2020 class.
Jakob James is a three star tackle from Cincinnati. He is listed at 6 ft.5, 275 pounds.
The smallest of the offensive linemen is Lule Wepler, the No. 1 center in the 2020 class. He is 6 ft. 3 ½ and weighs 285 pounds.
Offensive line coach Greg Studrawa will certainly have plenty of big, talented players to work with in the future,

Now a look at the other players in the 2020 Ohio State recruiting class beginning with the outstanding wide receivers.
Gee Scott and Jaxon Smith-Njigba are four star recruits and top 100 overall players. Jullan Fleming is the top ranked WR in the 2020 recruiting class. Think Brian Hartline isn’t going to have fun working with these guys?
Jack Miller is the No. 2 Pro Style QB in the class. Four-star safety Lejond Cavazos is the only recruit on the defensive side of the ball so far. Kicker Jake Seibert recently committed to the class as well.
The 2020 class is now ranked as the 8th best in the country and No. 1 in the Big Ten. Their 93.62 ranking is third best among teams in the Top 10.
Ryan Day is off to an excellent start in his first recruiting class and he has many of the pieces filled in on offense. Now the attention will be on running backs and tight ends. There is still plenty of work to do on the other side of the ball though, so that will be an interesting situation going forward.
