Ohio State Football: Teams the Buckeyes should watch out for in 2019.
By Ian O’Brien
4) Northwestern
Northwestern has continued to improve under head coach Pat Fitzgerald and faced Ohio State in last year’s Big Ten Championship Game. However, many thought the Wildcats would take a step back with quarterback Clayton Thorson gone but here comes transfer Hunter Johnson.
Johnson is a former five-star recruit, and playing for Clemson in 2017 he threw two touchdowns with one interception as he sat behind then quarterback Kelly Bryant. With Thorson gone, look for Johnson to try to give the Buckeyes defense some trouble.
Especially with Ben Skowronek back as wide receiver who is prime to have a big season. His career stats as of now are 1,276 yards and eight touchdowns, and now the young man will be looking for bigger and better things with Johnson throwing his way.
You can also be certain the Wildcats will give the Buckeyes different looks too to keep them off guard so they will need to bring their A-game. Ohio State can’t fall to another lower ranked, or unranked team like Purdue again this season.
The Buckeyes will need to stay focused and can’t go easy in this game. We will see what happens when Chase Young, Davon Hamilton and the rest of the defense goes up against Johnson.
Especially since the Wildcats will be looking for revenge after the 45-24 loss they took back in December in the Big Ten Championship Game.
