Ohio State Football: Teams the Buckeyes should watch out for in 2019.
By Ian O’Brien
Ohio State has been the dominant team in the Big Ten recently but has lost to teams like Iowa and Purdue. Here’s who the Bucks should look out for in 2019.
There is less than three months to go before college football is finally back. That means Ohio State football will be returning soon, and the hype is big this season.
However, when there has been plenty of hype recently our Ohio State Buckeyes have lost to a team like Iowa in 2017 or Purdue last year, while barely escaping with wins over Nebraska and Maryland. With that being said, here are teams the Buckeyes will have to watch out for during the Big Ten season.
5) Wisconsin:
Ohio State will host the Wisconsin Badgers in week 8. The Buckeyes have played memorable games against the Badgers in the past. In 2014, Ohio State ran all over Wisconsin in the 59-0 win in the Big Ten Championship Game.
The Buckeyes would beat the Badgers again during the 2016 season 30-23 in double overtime as quarterback JT Barrett hit Noah Brown for the touchdown. The final big match was the 2017 Big Ten Championship Game which Ohio State won 27-21.
However, Wisconsin has new quarterbacks who are still fighting for the starting position. Those quarterbacks are Danny Vaden Bloom, Jack Coan, and Graham Metz. All are promising quarterbacks, but for a prediction on who will start, mine would be Jack Coan since he is a junior while the others are redshirt freshman / sophomores.
Coan has the most experience as he threw for 515 yards and five touchdowns last season. Wisconsin also has running back Jonathan Taylor back, and as we know it’s hard to bring him down.
The Badgers’ defense was 35th in team stats last season so look for them to pressure a lot when they play the Buckeyes week eight.
