In one of the most exciting games of the NCAA Tournament one Big Ten team earned a spot in the Elite Eight with a win in OT.

The Big Ten will have at least one team in the Elite Eight. Purdue appeared to be cruising to an easy victory tonight against Tennessee but it was anything but. The Volunteers came back from a big deficit and took the lead late in the game and then the Boilermakers’ Carsen Edwards had to make two free throw at the end to send the game into overtime.

Purdue won the extra stanza and pulled out a 79-94 victory.

Edwards was lights out in the first half and the Boilermakers took a 40-28 lead into the break. They stretched the lead 53-36 with a little after 4 minutes gone in the second half but the Volunteers came storming back.

After they tied the game at 67 with about six minutes left to play it was a back and forth battle the rest of the way. Tennessee took a two point lead and appeared they had the game won with little time on the game clock.

Edwards then got the ball in the corner on an inbounds play and was fouled on a three point shot. The leading scorer in the Big Ten made two of three free throws to send the game into overtime .

Tennessee appeared to be out of gas from the big comeback and Purdue took control to secure the win.
