Ohio State Basketball: How Big Ten teams will fare in the first round
Maryland vs. Belmont
Tom: Belmont beat Temple in the play-in game. The Bruins are built around Ja Korant, one of the best guards in the country who averages 24.6 pts per game.
I am torn on this game. On one hand, the Terps are lousy away from College Park. Regardless, they have more talent and should win this game. They will still find a way to lose. Bruins win 64-60.
Blake: Belmont slid into the field via the First Four where they defeated Temple. I believe they have enough to win a second game and defeat Maryland in a close upset.
Shayne: I think that this one has great potential for an upset as this Belmont team is scary good on the offensive end of the ball and Maryland can struggle to score the ball at times. I am going to pull the trigger and call the upset as Bruno Fernando will be double teamed to no end. And Belmont coach Rick Byrd in his 33rd year as head coach of the Bruins, will get his second NCAA Tournament win.
CL: I don’t like this matchup for the inconsistent Maryland Terrapins. I think Belmont will pull off the upset.
