Big Ten Seedings: One team gets raw deal, another benefits from it
Maryland (6) vs. Belmont-Temple (11): The Terrapins are an extremely talented team that can look like a world-beater one game but average the next. It’s just about which Maryland team shows up during the tournament.
Cincinnati (7) vs. Iowa (10): This is an interesting matchup. The game will be played in Columbus so plenty of Cincinnati fans will be there but Iowa is 11-0 in non-conference games this season.
The Hawkeyes like to play up-tempo and the Bearcats like to slow the game down. I like Iowa to pull off the upset in this one.

Louisville (7) vs. Minnesota (10): I would hate to be the Louisville Cardinals having to face the Gophers right now. Coach Pitino has his squad playing at a high level and with a lot of energy. And he will be facing the school that fired his father a couple of years ago.
Iowa State (6) vs. Ohio State (11): The Buckeyes remind me of the Terrapins because you don’t know if the good or average version will show up. But like the Hawkeyes they were outstanding in the non-conference with a 10-1 record.
I think getting away from facing physical Big Ten teams will help Ohio State. But whether the Buckeyes perform well or not will probably be determined by whether center Kaleb Wesson can stay on the floor for 25-30 minutes a game.
There is a possibility six to eight of the Big Ten teams could move on to the second game, and some even further. After all, every one of these teams are battle tested having navigated a grueling conference schedule this year.
