Penn State first extended their winning streak to 4 by blowing out ranked Maryland, then later in the week had that streak ended by Wisconsin. Either way, the Nittany Lions obviously has seen a major uptick in their season as they started out Big Ten play with 10 straight losses.

Penn State has now won 5 of 8 games since beginning that steak and have wins over both Michigan and Maryland.

Postseason play for the Nittanly Lions  is probably out of the question thanks to their terrible start, barring a cinderella run in the Big Ten Tournament. Penn State will close out the regular season with contests against Rutgers and Illinois.

Illinois went 1-1 in week 17 losing in a 73-56 blowout to Purdue on the road on Wednesday, but then handed the Northwestern Wildcats their 10th loss in a row in an 81-76 home win. This ended a three-game losing streak for the Fighting Illini as junior Guard Andres Felix recorded a career high 26 points after going 16/17 from the free throw line.

They are probably out of any postseason play and playing for pride at this point in the season. Illinois will attempt to save some of that pride against Indiana and Penn State in the final week of the regular season.
