In the most shocking upset of the Big Ten season thus far, Michigan State fell for the third time in a row to a hot Illinois team on the road. The Spartans shot the ball from the field 7% better than the Illini, but turned the ball over 24 times in the game, an uncharacteristic stat for a Tom Izzo led team towards the end of the regular season.

That being said, Michigan State was able to bounce back and give Minnesota their third straight loss. Nick Ward led the Spartans with 22 points and 9 rebounds in the huge victory to end their own losing streak. Michigan State will now try to create a different type of streak in week 15 against two teams that have been playing well as of late, Wisconsin and Ohio State.

Maryland’s lone game in week 14 came on Wednesday in the form of a low scoring victory over a reeling Nebraska squad. The Terrapins overcame the Cornhuskers by the score of 60-45 and they continue to cement their already guaranteed spot in the NCAA Tournament.

Freshman Forward Jaylen Smith led the team with 18 points and his big man partner in Sophomore Bruno Fernando also chipped in 13 points in the victory. Maryland will have a brutal week 15 having to face the top two teams in these power rankings, Purdue and Michigan.
