It was a nice week for the Ohio State Buckeyes pulling out close wins over Penn State and Indiana improving their Big Ten record to 6-6.

The week 14  rankings don’t shake up too terribly as Purdue stays at the top of the heap with Michigan trailing closely behind them. Michigan State falls a couple of spots and Ohio State rises as both are fighting for their positioning in the NCAA Tournament field.

A ton of fun Big Ten action to get into this week so let’s get started!

  1. Purdue | 17-6 (10-2)
  2. Michigan | 22-2 (11-2)
  3. Wisconsin | 17-7 (9-4)
  4. Iowa | 19-5 (8-5)
  5. Michigan State | 19-5 (10-3)
  6. Maryland | 18-6 (9-4)
  7. Ohio State | 16-7 (6-6)
  8. Minnesota | 16-8 (6-7)
  9. Indiana | 13-11 | (4-9)
  10. Illinois | 9-15 (5-8)
  11. Rutgers | 11-12 (4-9)
  12. Nebraska | 13-11 (3-10)
  13. Northwestern | 12-11 (3-9)
  14. Penn State | 8-15 (1-11)

The Purdue Boilermakers remain at the top spot in these rankings for the second week in a row comfortably winning their only game of the week against Nebraska. Purdue has now won 8 games in a row and sit a half a game behind the Michigan Wolverines for first place in the conference.

This has been a fantastic coaching job by Matt Painter as the Boilermakers struggled in the non-conference and fell to as low as 10 at one point in these power rankings. They were also unranked for a majority of the non conference and for a good amount of the Big Ten season.

But those troubles are in the rearview mirror now as the Boilermakers have made their way all the way to 12th in the AP Poll. Purdue will take on Maryland and Penn State in week 15.

Michigan fended off a scrappy Rutgers team on Tuesday in a 77-65 road win. The Wolverines shot great from three-point land in the game shooting 47%.

Impressive freshman Forward Ignas Brazdeikis led the Wolverines 23 points including going 5-9 from long distance. Then Michigan would avenge their first loss of the season by defeating Wisconsin at home on Saturday.

The Wolverines now have 22 wins overall on the season and 11 in conference. What a year it has been for a team that was expected to take a bit of a down turn after last season’s championship run. Michigan takes on Penn State and Maryland in week 15.
