Ohio State Basketball: Week 13 Big Ten basketball power rankings
It was a great start for the Ohio State Buckeyes against their biggest rival on Tuesday but it quickly turned into what many thought it would be, a slaughter. The Michigan Wolverines pulled away in the second half to run away with the game 65-49.
It would have been a huge win for the Buckeyes’ NCAA Tourney hopes but it obviously just wasn’t meant to be. That being said, they would garner their 2nd win in 3 games as they would defeat a Rutgers team at home that had won three games in a row coming into the match up.
Kaleb Wesson exploded for 21 points in the first half, including nine points from behind the arc. The big center would finish with 27 points and 5 assists on the night. Wesson was able to stay out of foul trouble in this game unlike the previous match up against the Scarlet Knights.
It goes without saying that when Wesson is on the floor, good things happen for the Buckeyes. Ohio State will look to string a few wins together with games against Penn State and Indiana in week 14.
Northwestern kicked off week 13 on a rather sour note falling to Maryland 70-52 and unfortunately for the Wildcats that was their only game of the week. Sophomore Anthony Gaines led the Wildcats with 18 points in the loss.
Vic Law has led a rather short handed team to 3 Big Ten wins as he has averaged 15 points a game. Northwestern had been playing well prior to this game against a tough Maryland team.
