The Ohio State basketball team continued to slide down in the Big Ten power rankings and last week’s top team lost for the first time.

And then there was one. Week 11 of the Big Ten Basketball season proved to be a treacherous one for many teams, especially for the Michigan Wolverines who suffered their first loss of the entire season. Minnesota probably wishes they had a certain game back and Ohio State continued their surprising losing skid.

Now its time for the Big Ten Basketball Week 11 Power Rankings!

  1. Michigan State | 16-2 (7-0)
  2. Michigan | 17-1 (6-1)
  3. Maryland | 16-3 (7-1)
  4. Iowa | 16-3 (5-3)
  5. Purdue | 12-6 (5-2)
  6. Wisconsin | 12-6 (4-3)
  7. Nebraska | 13-5 (3-4)
  8. Indiana | 12-6 (3-4)
  9. Ohio State | 13-5 (2-4)
  10. Minnesota | 14-4 (4-3)
  11. Northwestern | 11-7 (2-5)
  12. Rutgers | 8-9 (1-6)
  13. Illinois | 5-13 (1-6)
  14. Penn State | 7-12 (0-8)

The Spartans become the first team besides the Wolverines to take the top spot in these rankings. While Michigan failed to win their lone game against Wisconsin, Michigan State kept it rolling against Nebraska with a 70-64 road victory.

The Spartans are red-hot right now as they have rattled off 12 wins in a row and have many talking about them as the best team in the country. It shouldn’t come as a shock that Michigan State is getting better as March approaches.

Michigan finally looked human this past Saturday as they lost their first game of the season to Wisconsin by a score of 64-54. The loss was due largely to the fact that the Wolverines just couldn’t get it going offensively putting up just 54 points and shooting 40.7% from the field.

Xavier Simpson, was able to notch a double-double as the point guard surprisingly racked up 10 rebounds to go with 11 points on the night. While it was a very bad game for John Beilein and crew, don’t expect it to be the same against Minnesota and Indiana in week 12.
