The Maryland Terrapins had a great week moving up to the 5th spot on these rankings. First, they got a huge victory securing their 2nd conference win over the 24th ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers. Sophomore Forward Bruno Fernando was brilliant in the victory for the Terrapins scoring 18 points and grabbing 17 rebounds while providing a physical presence that will be difficult for any team to deal with this season.

Then on Saturday, Maryland got their 3rd conference win over Rutgers in a game that they led 40-19 at half. Things are looking up for the Terrapins.

Minnesota only had one game in week 9 but it was a big win as they moved to 2-1 in the Big Ten with a win over Wisconsin on Thursday. Junior Amir Coffey, scored 21 in the victory for the Golden Gophers against a Badger team that looked sluggish, especially in the first half. Either way it is still a huge victory for Minnesota and it keeps them near the top of the rankings.
