The Ohio State football team pulled out another tough win on Saturday. Here are the unit grades for the week 7 game against the Minnesota Gophers.

It was another rough week for Buckeye fans to watch as the Ohio State football team pulled out an ugly win at home against Minnesota. The Buckeyes are still undefeated and in prime position to make the CFP if they win out.

Based on other performances around the country, they are going to need to play much better as the season wears on. Enough of that though, let’s get into how the Buckeyes performed this past Saturday.

Quarter 1:

Offense:

All things considered, the first drive for the Buckeyes went pretty well. They moved the ball really well, Haskins was firing on all cylinders, but it ended in a field goal, which is disappointing considering how good the offense looked.

On the next drive, Haskins made sure that the Buckeyes weren’t getting a field goal as he threw a 41-yard strike on first down to give the Buckeyes the lead once again.

Grade: A-

Defense:

Well the defense got off to a better start than last week. Not because we looked that much better, but because Kendall Sheffield decided to bail us out with an interception.

I have always said that when Ohio State plays teams that can run the ball well, it doesn’t scare me because the Buckeye defensive can handle these types of teams.

However, on Minnesota’s first touchdown drive, Minnesota ran it right down our throats. Minnesota went on a 75 yard drive that took over 5 minutes and the Buckeyes showed no signs of being able to stop them on the ground.

Grade: C

Special Teams:

The Buckeyes had no punts or punt returns in this quarter and they covered the kickoffs well. Nothing much to report on special teams and when you avoid a disaster that is always a good thing.

Grade: A
