The Ohio State football team started the season as one of the favorites to earn a spot in the College Football Playoff. Things have gone according to plan six games into the season. Let’s take a look at what exactly the Bucks have done right.

The Buckeyes have stayed healthy – Most of the Ohio State football players have managed to stay healthy and the majority of our big-time stars are off of the injury list. Of course with the exception of defensive end Nick Bosa.

One of the keys to a championship run is a team staying healthy. The offensive line hasn’t lost any key components so far and may even have another player back soon.

There is a possibility that guard Branden Bowen will be returning soon from his 2017 season-ending injury. If that’s the case, the O-Line will get an upgrade midseason.

Dwayne Haskins has a good habit of staying in the pocket which also cuts down the possibility of the Heisman hopeful sustaining an unnecessary injury.

Other than Bosa, the defensive unit has stayed healthy and kept the starters off the injury report and on the field.

Dwayne Haskins Jr. – Dwayne Haskins has put on an early campaign for the Heisman. He has walked into the starting position and given fans no hangover from the departure of J.T. Barrett.

Haskins has turned the Buckeyes offense into the passing attack fans have craved. He is creating big plays with an incredible amount of efficiency.

Haskins has shown up in big games and even led a huge comeback against Penn State in Happy Valley. He is doing things no Buckeye Quarterback has done in a long time or possibly ever. Dwayne has the leadership of J.T. Barrett, the arm of Cardale Jones and the talent of Troy Smith.

Buckeyes have finished strong – Ohio State has made sure to finish out games strong.  The coaching staff and players have done a great job of responding to adversity by coming out firing in the second half.

The coaching staff has made the correct adjustments and the players have put the plan to work on the field. Whether it is a blowout or a nail biter, the improvements can clearly be seen.

The defense gets more stops and the offense moves the ball better. Ohio State has to make sure they not only finish the games strong, but the rest of the season as well.

If the first half of the season is any indication, the Bucks will only get better as we move into the second half. They had better because the stretch drive will be challenging.
