Saturday’s Ohio State football game against the Indiana Hoosiers was interesting to say the least. Here are Buckeyes’ unit grades this week.

Saturday’s game was tighter than Ohio State football fans probably would have liked but the Buckeyes were able to pull out a win on homecoming against Indiana. As with every week I will be giving quarter by quarter grades for each unit during this game. Lets get to it.

1st Quarter:

Offense:

The offense was on a nice run to start off the game until Mike Weber coughed the ball up and gave it to Indiana, halting the Buckeyes drive into Hoosier territory. Unlike Webber, JK Dobbins impressed me at the beginning, showing he had not lost a step since his game against Penn State last week.

The next drive was back to normal for the Ohio State offense with Dobbins tacking on the rushing yards and Haskins flinging the ball all over the field to the talented OSU receivers. The Buckeyes would cap off the drive with Dobbins scoring on a touchdown run up the gut.

Grade: B

Defense:

The defense started out a little shaky giving up a huge run play early in the first quarter which led to an Indiana field goal. Ohio State only gave up three points on the drive because of Indiana penalties.

After a surprising Mike Weber fumble, the Buckeye defense shored themselves up by stopping Indiana in their own territory once again. Ohio State was gashed once again in the run game but fortunately did not concede any points.

In the third drive of the quarter, Indiana should have had scored on a long touchdown pass but the ball was overthrown, but that gash in the Buckeyes’ defense will be largely forgotten.

Overall, Ohio State showed quite a few weaknesses but only allowed the Hoosiers to score three points. Not the greatest quarter but not the worst either.

Grade: B-

Special Teams:

The Ohio State special teams unit picked up right where it left off against Penn State, getting excellent coverage on kickoffs. That being said, KJ Hill had little to no blocking on the only punt of the quarter by either team.

Grade: B+
