Ohio State Football: Big Ten predictions Week 3
BYU at Wisconsin
After the week one win over Arizona, many were thinking the Cougars were back. They backed it up with a loss against Cal. Coupled with the Wildcats getting smashed by Houston, I feel confident in saying BYU is no better than last year when the Cougars finished 4-9.
The Badgers are sleepwalking through their weak non-conference schedule. Johnathan Taylor will gain another 200 yards and the team will cruise to another dull win. Wisconsin 42-9.
Northern Iowa at Iowa
The Hawkeyes are 2-0 behind the strength of their defense. The only thing that would stop them from getting to 3-0 is if they fall flat looking ahead to next week’s showdown with Wisconsin. It won’t happen. Iowa wins 35-13.
Troy at Nebraska
Despite losing to Colorado, Scott Frost’s revealed his vision for the program. The Cornhuskers racked up 565 yards of offense, 329 on the ground. I expect to see a lot more of that as the season progresses.
Freshman quarterback Adrian Martinez had a strong debut, though he did injure his knee. He’s day-to-day.
Troy was blasted by Boise State in their opener and crushed Florida A&M last week. Neal Brown’s team is talented, but lacks the depth to make this a competitive game.
Frost gets his first win. Nebraska 48-27.
Miami at Minnesota
I predicted a Fresno State upset over the Golden Gophers last week. Dumb pick. Minnesota is a solid team.
We’ll see how the team responds to losing Rodney Smith for the season. They have several capable backups so I expect them to continue running the ball well.
The Redhawks have gotten off to a slow start for a team expected to compete for the MAC title. They won’t get it going this week either. Golden Gophers 38-10.
