The Ohio State football team looked strong last Saturday, as did the Wisconsin Badgers, but other Big Ten teams didn’t. Will Week 2 be a different story?

Every week I will provide my predictions for the slate of Big Ten games. This week the Ohio State football team will play their first Big Ten game and there are interesting non-conference games on tap.

Last week I finished 9-3. Good thing I was not picking against the spread.

Penn State and Michigan State narrowly escaped and Michigan did what is does under Jim Harbaugh, lose to a ranked opponent.

With good matchups against the ACC, Big 12 and Pac-12, week two is an important one for the Big Ten to establish its status for 2018.

Here are my predictions for week two:

Rutgers at Ohio State

This game has not been competitive under Urban Meyer.  The Buckeyes have scored 205 points in four games and allowed just 24.  Will this year be any different?

The offense came out swinging last week lighting up the scoreboard for 77 points.  Dwayne Haskins’ debut was exactly what Buckeye Nation hoped it would be and Mike Weber showed he’s back and ready for a strong season.

The defense looked vulnerable for a few plays, but I think Greg Schiano will get that cleaned up.

Rutgers is entering its third year under Chris Ash.  They easily handled Texas State last week.  Signs are pointing in the right direction and the Scarlet Knights will be more competitive this year.

They’ll keep the game competitive for a quarter, maybe the first half, but the Buckeyes have too much speed for them to handle and pull away early in the second half.

Ohio State 45-10.

Now for the first of the rivalry games.
