Texas at Maryland

Last year the Terps went into Austin and spoiled Tom Herman’s debut as the Longhorns’ coach. Can they do it again?

They won’t.  In fact, I think Maryland is embarking on a disastrous season where I would be shocked if it won more than two games.  The issues with D.J. Durkin, staff and players will be too much to overcome.

Texas rolls to a comfortable 41-13 win.

Kent State at Illinois

This is the season we’ll find out if Lovie Smith is invested in the program.  He has 16 returning starters, most of them sophomores and juniors. This is still a rebuilding year, but the team should be more competitive.

Kent State has a new coach that is breaking too many new starters to keep this game close.

Illinois wins 31-7.
