Finally the decision on whether or not Urban Meyer will remain the Ohio State head football coach has been made. He will serve a three-game suspension.

The Ohio State University announced yesterday Urban Meyer will suspended for the first three games of the season. Athletic Director Gene Smith will also serve a suspension from August 31 to September. 16

The independent investigation over what Urban knew about the Zach Smith situation, and if he handled it correctly, wrapped up on Sunday. The information was given to the Ohio State board of trustees Monday. After hours of deliberation with the board yesterday, Ohio State President Michael Drake reach his decision on what measures to take.

The last 20 days have been a trying time for Buckeye fans with the uncertainty concerning the coaching situation. Everyone was waiting to hear the final result. Can you imagine whar it’s been like for the Ohio State football players?

They have been knocking each other around trying to earn a starting spot or a backup role while listening to all the noise. Now fall camp is over, they know what the coaching situation will be, and the players can just focus on beating Oregon State.

More from Ohio State Buckeyes

That has to be a relief for them, and I’m sure every Buckeye fan as well. It sure is for me because we can now concentrate on football.

About that. The first two games Urban Meyer will miss is against Oregon State and Rutgers which shouldn’t be a problem with a new coach at the helm.

But the third is against TCU who is ranked in the top 25 in preseason polls. It’s a night game at their place which will be quite a test for Ryan Day in his first big game as acting head coach.

Next. Another preseason honor for Nick Bosa. dark

With the rugged schedule later in the season, that essentially could be a make or break game if the Buckeyes are to make the College Football Playoff. And like the rest of us, Urban Meyer can only watch.
