Urban Meyer has loaded the Ohio State football team with talented defensive players who will make life miserable for opposing quarterbacks.

When opposing quarterbacks take the field against the Buckeyes they will see stars. The Ohio State football team is loaded with former five-star recruits who will make completing a pass an adventure.

A QB will first have to find a way to get rid of the football as some of those five-star recruits will be breathing down his neck. Then if he manages to avoid the rush, he will often have to throw to a receiver covered by a player who was ranked at or near the top at his position in his recruiting class.

First let’s take a look at former five-star recruits who will try to put the QB on his back.

Nick Bosa: He is simply the best DE in college football. He was named the Smith-Brown Big Ten Defensive Lineman of the Year as a sophomore. Expect even better things to come from the junior this season.

Chase Young: The sophomore was the No. 2 DE in the 2017 recruiting class. Young was buried in the depth chart last season because the DE unit was loaded, but he performed well when he got his opportunities.

Everyone around the football team is raving about this guy. During the Ohio State Spring Game Young was nearly unblockable. I can’t wait to see how he will perform now that he will be starting.

Taron Vincent: I don’t usually expect much from a freshman defensive tackle. However, Vincent was the top DT in the 2018 recruiting class. And he has impressed the coaching staff in the short time he has been on campus and his black stripe has already been removed.

At 6-2, 265 pounds, he could be in the rotation at the three technique and coach Larry Johnson likes to bring pressure from the inside with that position.

If an opposing QB can stay upright with these five-star athletes trying to put him on his back, he may struggle trying to complete a pass against these corners.
