10 bold predictions for the 2017 college football season

4. USC will find its way back to the Nation’s top spot
Ahhh the days. USC is possibly the best college football program ever, and one of the most dominant teams since 2000. However, in recent years they haven’t lived up to Southern California expectations, and haven’t crashed the college football playoff party just yet.
If you remember USC was the most dominant team college football and maybe had two of the best single seasons ever in 2003 and 2004. They kept up that dominance into 2005 and 2006 and the Linert-Bush era is one that will never be forgotten.
What people forget is that this program was bad, like really bad before then. In the years leading up to that run USC was pitiful, similar to what they have been the last five or six years now. As we know very well, history tends to repeat itself, and I think this year may just be the start of another run of Trojan dominance.
Last year was lining up to be another terrible season with the Trojans beginning the season 1-3, but then something flipped. USC finished the season by winning every game left on their schedule and then defeated Penn State in what may have been one of the best Rose Bowls of all time.
This was a huge confidence boost for their fan base and for their program, and they have been talked about more than any other team going into this upcoming season. I think that the stars just may align this year for Sam Darnold and his receiving core.
And with help from an unbelievable secondary, I think they have a good opportunity to take hold of the top spot in the nation at some point this season. If not at the end of the season.
