Rodney Dangerfield Award:

An early surprise in the Big Ten this year is the steady rise of Trace McSorley.  Penn State’s hopes of making any noise in the Big Ten East cannot be solely based on feeding the ball to Saquon Barkley.  Defenses will load the box and suffocate the Nittany Lions.

He rebounded from throwing a costly last minute interception against Pittsburgh last week by leading the team to a 34-27 win over Temple passing for 287 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

McSorley’s true test comes this week against Michigan who is No. 24 in the FBS in pass-efficiency defense allowing just 156 yards passing per game.  He’ll need to play a perfect game if Penn State wants to pull the upset.
