Ohio State Recruiting: Your 2016 Buckeyes Class
By Dillon Davis
Luke Farrell- Perry (Perry, OH)
Size: 6’6″- 240 lbs.
Position: TE (#7 TE, 4 stars)
Farrell received his offer from Ohio State in June of 2014, and many believed it would be a matter of time before he accepted his offer to be a Buckeye. Instead, he took his time with his recruitment, taking visits to Penn State, Michigan State, and Notre Dame, among others.
Despite major pushes from Notre Dame and Michigan State, Farrell committed to the Buckeyes on July 24th, 2015. He became the third tight end in the class, joining Jake Hausmann and Kierre Hawkins.
Like Hausmann, Farrell comes to Ohio State as a well rounded prospect. He is an above average blocker, but still has plenty of athleticism to make plays in the passing game.
The future of the tight end position is up in the air. Marcus Baugh saw plenty of playing time down the stretch last year, and he figures to be the starter in 2016. He is far from a permanent fixture, though, and behind him the depth chart is wide open.
Any one of the three newcomers at this position could come in and challenge A.J. Alexander and Rashad Berry for the second tight end spot.
