Ohio State Recruiting: Your 2016 Buckeyes Class
By Dillon Davis
Austin Mack- Bishop Luers (Fort Wayne, IN)
Size: 6’2″- 205 lbs.
Position: WR (#10 WR, 4 stars)
The Buckeyes were after Mack heavily from the day he first camped at Ohio State in June of 2014. It took almost a year to the day, but they were finally able to get their primary target for the receiver position.
He chose the Buckeyes over offers from Michigan, Notre Dame, and Tennessee.
Mack has seen his stock rise in the past year, thanks to impressive performances at camps such as Nike’s The Opening, which welcomes the elite talents around the country every year.
Mack brings good size to the Buckeyes’ receiving group. While not a blazer, he has good speed to go along with soft hands.
For as good as he may be on the field, he is an even better person off the field. He is a vocal leader, and has proven to be a valuable asset in recruiting the rest of the class since the day he joined the class.
The Buckeyes have a strong need for “true” wide receivers, and Mack fits the bill. With Michael Thomas and Jalin Marshall leaving early, there is plenty of opportunity up for grabs heading into the 2016 season.
With Mack being an early enrollee, and the state of the position being a major unknown for the Buckeyes, do not be surprised at all if you see Mack make the case for immediate playing time.
