Ohio State Recruiting: Your 2016 Buckeyes Class
By Dillon Davis
DeMario McCall- North Ridgeville (North Ridgeville, OH)
Size: 5′ 10″- 171 lbs.
Position: All-Purpose Back (#2 APB, 4 stars)
McCall committed to the Buckeyes on March 28th of last year, and at the time he was joining two other highly sought after running backs in George Hill and Kareem Walker. Hill and Walker have since moved on.
McCall is the third ranked player in the state of Ohio. At the 2014 Friday Night Lights camp, Ohio State’s biggest recruiting event, he was timed at 4.34 40 yard dash. His elusiveness in space rivals his straight line speed, making him more likely a fit at H-back than as a true running back.
He runs with more power than his frame might suggest, and he is capable of breaking tackles, although he would prefer to just outrun them.
Urban Meyer puts a premium on athletes of his nature, with the versatility to affect the game in a number of ways. If McCall can utilize Mickey Marotti’s strength program early on, you can expect him to contribute at some point early in his career.
Named as an Army All-American, McCall chose the Buckeyes over offers from Notre Dame, Michigan State, West Virginia, and Georgia, among others.
