Ohio State Recruiting: Your 2016 Buckeyes Class
By Dillon Davis
Jake Hausmann- Archbishop Moeller (Cincinnati, OH)
Size: 6’5″ – 235 lbs.
Position: TE (#3 TE, 4 stars)
In a class that has three tight ends, Hausmann might be the gem of the group. He became the fourth member of the class on January 25th of this past year. Offers were also in hand from Michigan, Notre Dame, and Florida State.
Hausmann was a teammate of current Buckeye Sam Hubbard at Moeller. Ohio State’s recruiting struggles in the Cincinnati area have been well documented, but Urban Meyer appears to have started shifting that tide.
He is quick enough to get vertical in the passing game, but run blocking is already a strength in his game. While he already has a large frame, he can actually afford to add a little more “good” weight to increase his strength.
Marcus Baugh will be the starting tight end this year, and both AJ Alexander and Rashad Berry will be coming off of redshirt seasons. Urban Meyer has made it clear that he is looking for difference makers at the position, having signed 5 total in the last two classes.
Hausmann’s run blocking ability bodes well for his chances of making an early impact. There will be a lot of competition at the position, but the US Army All American has the early looks of a star.
