Ohio State Recruiting: Your 2016 Buckeye Class, Part 2
By Dillon Davis
Earlier we took a look at the immense amount of offensive talent that Urban Meyer has brought into
this 2016 Ohio State recruiting class. With so much production having jolted for the NFL, this class was critical for the coaching staff to restock the talent pool of the program.
That narrative is the same for the defensive side of the ball. The Buckeyes will return only three starters on that side of the ball, although some of the expected starters in 2016 will have experience to draw from.
When saying that Urban Meyer needed to restock the talent pool, that certainly isn’t to say that there is a void of talent in the program. Regardless of how this class finished, there will never be a shortage of talent at a place like Ohio State.
But for the culture of competitive excellence that Meyer has built at Ohio State, there is no such thing as excess in that department. When talent is forced to compete with talent, that is when you see the truly special players blossom.
With the possible exception of defensive tackle, the Buckeyes heavily addressed every level of the defense.
