Meyer’s determination and competitiveness are embedded in the foundation of the program. He won’t let the team slip on doing the work needed to improve on the field. Complacency will not be a problem.

As we have seen, discipline off the field though can be an issue. From Joey Bosa’s one-game suspension to Barrett’s OVI, the team can ill-afford these distractions if it wants to be a contender in 2016.

Few coaches have the luxury of not having to deal with these disciplinary issues on a regular basis. Perhaps Meyer will get lucky and have an entire offseason where his players maintain their eligibility, stay out of trouble with the law and comply with NCAA rules.
