It is difficult to determine who are the greatest players who have ever played football at Ohio State. There are many Buckeyes in the College Football Hall of Fame. And there have been so many players who have been named first team All-American, Buckeye Grove has more trees than some western states.

The top 30 players of all time will be decided not only by their statistics, but their impact on  Ohio State and college football as well during their playing days.

Things of importance can include major awards, championship seasons, and of course success against a certain team up north. In other words, the same things that are still important  for Buckeye fans today.

The first group of 20 Buckeye greats are not ranked in any particular order but the time in which they played. Later we will look at the top ten Ohio State football players of all time.

Today we will look at those players who turned the Ohio State football program around, and continue through the great Woody Hayes era. I hope you will enjoy this blast from the past.
