How Does Zeke Elliott Compare To These Buckeye Greats?
Chris Wells
Anybody remember Beanie? Not only was Chris Wells a fan favorite, but he put up numbers like few Ohio State running backs ever have. And he did it in three years while entertaining the Buckeye faithful.
In Wells’ last two seasons for the Buckeyes the stands at Ohio Stadium were filled with fans wearing number 28 jerseys. And they were waiting for Beanie to run over a defender, make a move and run by him, or maybe just jump over him. He was one of the original college football hurdlers.
However he had to do it, Beanie Wells ran for 3,382 yards and 30 rushing touchdowns in his career at Ohio State. His sophomore season was his best when he rushed for 1,609 yards and 15 touchdowns and Wells was named to the All Big Ten Team and was a second team All-American. He was limited due to injuries his junior year but still managed to run for 1,197 yards.
Wells was instrumental in the Buckeyes going to the BCS Title Game in the 2006 and 2007 seasons. He also ran for 222 yards against Michigan, the second highest total for a Buckeye in The Game. But Beanie will be remembered as the Ohio State running back you had to watch every single play, just to see what he might do next.
