Nightmare On Bourbon Street! Urban In, SEC Out
Coach Urban Meyer upset the Southeastern Conference when he became head coach at the University of Florida. He installed an offense that they said could not work in the SEC, and then he proved it would by winning the conference championship and the National Title in his second season. He then won another title two years later and by that time the SEC had become the dominant conference in the nation.
After Urban Meyer’s Ohio State Buckeyes dominated Alabama in last year’s Sugar Bowl on the way to the National Championship, the landscape of college football changed again. Some are now questioning just how strong the Southeastern Conference is.
Just a couple of years ago many people in the media were making the argument that even a two loss SEC champion should play for the National Championship because of the difficult schedule they have to play. Now some of those same people are beginning to discuss how the conference could be left out of a four team playoff altogether. I guess Urban changed things in the SEC again.
