Wide Receivers and H-Backs

Grade: A+

The receivers have received a lot of criticism so far this year, but they were able to put some of that behind them with a big day against Maryland. Michael Thomas had a solid game and was able to top the 100 yard mark in a game for the first time in his career.

The receiving corp has had a hard time replacing Devin Smith’s big play ability in the passing game, but on Saturday Jalin Marshall showed signs that he could become the next big play threat for Jones. Marshall had a momentum changing 48 yard touchdown catch from Cardale to take the lead back in the second half.

Braxton Miller had arguably his most impressive game as a receiver against the Terrapins. He had two great catches on back to back plays that ended with an impressive touchdown pitch and catch. Miller finished the game with 5 catches, 79 yards, and a touchdown. We’ve seen Miller’s elusiveness already this year in the running game, but this was the first time we’ve seen the potential he has as receiver. This could be the start of something big for Miller.
