Running Backs

Grade: B+

Ezekiel Elliot got off to a fast start when his first carry of the year turned into an 80 yard touchdown run. He finished the day with 122 yards on 11 carries. I feel like he was drastically underutilized in the running game and needed more touches, but we can’t blame Elliot for that.

Zeke also did a great job blocking. He had a couple key blocks that set up Miller’s long touchdown run. You can’t understate how important a good blocking running back is.

Curtis Samuel only had one carry, but he contributed a touchdown in the passing game.

Bri’onte Dunn coughed up the ball late in the fourth quarter in his own territory that led to a touchdown by Virginia Tech. Fortunately the Buckeyes were in command of the game at that point. You never like to give up easy points like that.
