Offensive Line

Grade: A

“The Slobs” were on the top of their game on Monday night. They completely controlled the line of scrimmage which is a tough task to do against a strong Virginia Tech front seven.

It’s amazing how far this line has come in a year. Last year against Tech, J.T. Barrett was sacked six times. This time around the line didn’t allow any sacks the entire game.

The line also opened up huge holes in the running game. The Buckeyes finished with 360 yards on the ground and averaged an astounding 9.7 yards per carry. To put that in comparison with last year, the Buckeyes only had 327 total yards of offense and just over 100 on the ground.

The offensive line completely dominated Virginia Tech’s front seven. “The Slobs” often get overlooked because of the tremendous weapons the offense has, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t arguably the biggest strength of the team. They proved on Monday night why the Buckeyes are the first unanimous preseason number one team.
