Week 3- Kent State

After losing to Virginia Tech, Ohio State dropped from No. 7 to No. 22 in the rankings. The season could have ended there, but the game against Kent State would prove to be a tune-up for the rest of the year. The Buckeyes struggled to dominate in their previous game against Navy, and the lesser opponent Kent State was the perfect opponent for a young team to gain experience on.

J.T. Barrett had a welcome party, tying an Ohio State record with six touchdowns in a single game. Curtis Samuel shined as the premier running back for the Buckeyes and 15 carries for 100 yards. Ezekiel Elliott had the third most carries behind Samuel and Warren Ball. It’s ironic how few touches he received when you look at how he finished the season.

There was another strange hint at the future when Cardale Jones came into the game during the second half and went 2 for 4 with 32 yards. Who would have thought that guy would lead the Bucks to a National Championship?

Ohio State ended up dominating this one, and defeated Kent State 66-0.
