Week 2- Virginia Tech
After an unimpressive win versus Navy, Ohio State dropped to No. 7 in the rankings. In what was the only game of the season that you probably wanted to forget, the Buckeyes hosted Virginia Tech for a night game at the Horseshoe. What normally is an electric atmosphere at Ohio Stadium was rocking at full strength, but Virginia Tech dialed up just enough defense to make the Buckeyes young offense look silly.
The offensive line let the Hokies defense have their way for most of the night. J.T. Barrett didn’t have enough time to make accurate reads in just his second career game, and threw three interceptions.
Ohio State came back from a 14-point hole to tie the game in the fourth quarter on a touchdown run by Ezekiel Elliott, but Virginia Tech quarterback Michael Brewster made just enough clutch plays to keep his team ahead.
I’ll keep this one brief. Ohio State lost 35-21, and snapped a 35-game home opener win streak.
