Ohio State Football: These big changes need to happen

The Ohio State football team needs better players at corner.

The cornerbacks were abused all season in 2022. Denzel Burke, Cam Brown, and JK Johnson took turns getting turned into burnt toast at different points this season. Jordan Hancock had some bad moments once he was finally healthy enough to see the field too.

If the Buckeyes are going to beat TTUN, they have to have better corners. JJ McCarthy isn’t even a good passer and he beat the Buckeyes deep three separate times. He was able to do so because there wasn’t anyone near any of the wide receivers he was throwing to on any of those passes.

Ohio State has to recruit some better players at that position. They have to get players who won’t make stupid mistakes. That means they have to recruit corners who won’t get out of position. Simply put, they have to get better players at that position.

Ohio State is a good enough program that they should be able to recruit pretty much anyone they want. Corner should be one of the highest-priority positions in future recruiting classes. Looking at their current roster, they don’t have any studs that can help fix this issue immediately.

These are all changes that need to happen this offseason. There is still a chance this Ohio State football team can make the College Football Playoff, so they can’t make these changes yet. But if they want to be an elite program, they have to do these things
