Ohio State football vs. Penn State: Three bold predictions
Final Prediction: Ohio State football team 45, Penn State 21
This game will be a test for the Scarlet and Gray. The Buckeyes have to travel to State College for its first true road test of the season. The environment will be electric. And while it won’t have the feel of a ‘whiteout game,’ this will still be a difficult atmosphere for the Buckeyes to contend with.
On offense, Ohio State should have a clear advantage running the ball. Michigan completely dominated its game against Penn State two weeks ago on the ground and I expect the same thing from the Buckeyes in this game. It’s unclear if star receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba will be a reliable participant in this game but I’m not expecting it.
On defense, the Buckeyes’ defensive line will have to get to quarterback Sean Clifford to make him uncomfortable. If given time to throw, he can do some real damage like he did last week against Minnesota. Zach Harrison, Mike Hall, Jack Sawyer, and J.T. Tuimoloau will have to win against the Penn State offensive line, and I believe they can.
Overall, I think the Buckeyes will be just fine against the Nittany Lions. Penn State will put together a couple of drives but overall, I just don’t see how they can score enough to hang with this Buckeye offense.
Ohio State 45, Penn State 21.
