Ohio State football: 2021 Mock draft of Buckeyes 1.0
By Ryan Stano
Fields is the best Ohio State football prospect in this year’s Draft. He is the second-best prospect in this class, just behind Trevor Lawrence. The Jets are clearly not going anywhere with Sam Darnold and are trying to trade him. I would be shocked if he’s still on the roster before draft day.
Fields is the most accurate quarterback on deep throws in this draft. He might be the best leader as well. His legs are a weapon. He can make every throw a team needs him to. He does have the tendency to hold onto the ball too long, but that can be changed with a system change.
I would be very surprised to see someone else taken ahead of Fields. If the Jets opt to not go quarterback here and keep Darnold, then Fields wouldn’t fall any further than 8th where the Panthers sit. Fields is a top-tier prospect.
Wyatt Davis is the other guy we have pegged as a first-rounder for now. Davis is certainly a fringe guy. He didn’t have the best season in 2020 even though he collected a bunch of accolades. He could slide into the early second round.
Right now, we have him in Kansas City. With the Chiefs clearly struggling to protect Patrick Mahomes in the Super Bowl, their offensive line clearly needs an upgrade. Grabbing Davis would give them some depth on the interior. Davis can play either guard position too.
