Why Ohio State is better than most of Swinney’s top 10
By Zane Harris
#4: Florida
Florida is the next team that Dabo ranked ahead of Ohio State. The Gators are a very talented team this season with Heisman favorite Kyle Trask on their roster. There is a chance that they could have made a slight splash if they were in the playoffs.
However, yet again, the Flordia Gators finished with a record of 8-3. Meaning that they lost three games. They had a winning percentage of 72%. Ohio State finished with a record of 6-0 with a winning percentage of 100%.
When two teams are comparable talent-wise this is something that should be heavily taken into account. It should not matter that the Buckeyes missed a handful of games that are out of their control. This is why this point is brought up so many times. While it is true that Ohio State did not play the level of opposing talent that Florida did, Ohio State looked elite and did not lose to a single team.
Florida finished ranked 7th by the playoff committee and will be playing the Oklahoma Sooners in the Cotton Bowl.
Florida had a stronger strength of schedule than Ohio State. However, Ohio State had a better strength of record and game control.
Once again, Ohio State dominates the team they’re compared to in both FPI rank and FPI rating.
