No. 2:  January 1, 2015 Alabama 35, Ohio State 42

The second game of the miracle three game stretch of football played by third string QB Cardale Jones. And boy was it a great nigh to be a Buckeye.

Alabama got off to a fast start in this game going up 14-6 after the first quarter. But that’s when Jones’ settled down and led Ohio State to 36 points over the final three-quarters of action. Big plays galore in this game as Jones hit Devin Smith on a 47 yard bomb for a touchdown to open the second half.

Steve Miller added a 41 yard interception return for a touchdown and the Buckeyes found themselves up 34-21 deep into the third quarter.

Alabama would respond for a quick score to make it 34-28 to start the fourth. Then it was Ezekiel Elliot time. An 85 yard touchdown run right down the heart of Nick Saban’s vaunted defense left Ohio State with a 42-28 lead with 3:24 remaining. Ball game.

After the game, Elliot said he was a little motivated by comments from a living legend, via NFL.com:

"“Barry Sanders said before the game there were two great running backs that were going to play tonight, and they both were for Bama,” Elliott said. “I felt a little bit left out.”"

Zeke finished with 230 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Cardale Jones had 243 yards in the air with another 43 on the ground to lead the Buckeyes.

Wining a Sugar Bowl and a College Football Playoff game is sweet enough but to do it against the SEC and Nick Saban is even better.
