Cameron Heyward | 3 Tackles, 1 Sack, 2 Passes Defended

More from Ohio State Football

After talking about a rookie on the last side, we now move to one of the most seasoned former Buckeyes, but one who is still doing a lot of damage in the NFL.

Cameron Heyward is the anchor of the Steelers defensive line and one of the leaders of the team. Right now, Pittsburgh is one of the hottest teams in the NFL as they have shaken off a poor start to the season and now sit at 5-4, and are in major contention for an AFC wildcard spot in the back-half of the season.

After being ridiculed for having a poor defense early on in the season, the Steelers have picked up as of late. Over their four-game win streak, the steel curtain has given up an average of about 15 points per game. Heyward has totaled 18 tackles and two sacks over that same stretch but what the stats won’t tell you is just how disruptive he has been up the middle for them.

Heyward is constantly clogging holes up the middle making it very difficult for opposing running backs to find holes to run through. The Steelers currently have the No. 16 rush defense in the NFL right now, giving up an average of 105 yards per game. That number has been climbing ever since they started getting things turned around and I’m sure it will continue to climb with Heyward anchoring the defensive line.

That is going to do it for Week 10’s best performers of the former Buckeyes in the NFL. Come back next week to see if Ezekiel Elliott can have a bounce-back performance after missing the list this week.
