Curtis Samuel | 4 catches, 35 yards, 1 TD

If you are just looking at how many yards Curtis Samuel put up in a Sunday afternoon contest with the Packers you’d probably be wondering why he even made this list in the first place. But even though he only caught the ball four times, Samuel was able to get in the endzone and help the Panthers stay in the game against the Packers.

Samuel has the potential to be a do-it-all type player for the Panthers but as of now, he hasn’t really been used in that facet of the game yet. He’s been a solid receiver, catching 34 balls so far this season for 442 yards and four touchdowns. This game in particular was the second week in a row that he has gotten into the endzone, and the third time in the last four games that he has done as such.

As far as the rushing game goes, however, he has only gotten six carries for a total of 46 yards and has gotten into the endzone once. It’s rather surprising that the Panthers haven’t tried to give him more carries, but when you have Christian McCaffrey on your team, it’s hard to blame them.

Still, getting Samuel more involved in the run game would still help the Panthers not only by lessening some of the load for McCaffrey who gets more than half of their touches, but it would also add unpredictability to the offense that Carolina just doesn’t have right now.

No matter what the Panthers decide to do with Samuel this season though, it’s been fun watching a fully healthy Samuel start to live up to the expectations that all Buckeye fans knew he had.
