Jerome Baker | 7 Tackles, 1 Pass Defended

Jerome Baker predicted a win was coming for the Dolphins this week and he was spot on. Miami got their first victory of the season over the New York Jets and Baker was a big reason why.

The second-year player had seven tackles and a pass defended in the huge win at home on Sunday. Baker has proven to be a viable force for the Dolphins both in stopping the run as well as defending the pass in coverage.

That’s a very valuable trait and it’s something that will help the Dolphins as they continue with this rebuilding phase.

Right now Baker has 55 tackles, three tackles for loss and two passes defended. He leads the Dolphins in tackles, slightly ahead of fellow former Buckeye linebacker Raekwon McMillan who is close behind with 50.

In the NFL, Baker is currently tied for No. 38 in tackles. Pretty impressive considering that Baker was a third-round draft pick in 2018 and expected to do more damage in coverage due to his speed.

But that speed has led him to be a very versatile linebacker, and it’s why he finds himself on this list for the second week in a row.
