Ohio State Football: College football mid-season recap
Wisconsin Badgers (6-0), My Prediction: NR, 8-4
Yes, I had the Badgers unranked by season’s end. Granted, with games on the road against Ohio State and Minnesota and a home game against Iowa, it’s not impossible Wisconsin could fall apart and make me look a little smart.
However, with a defense that has been just about perfect, an 8-4 record is highly unlikely for a team that has Jonathan Taylor and a suffocating defense. The Badgers may not be much of a surprise to most people by record alone, but the way that they have won has been surprising to say the least.
Remaining key games: @ Ohio State, Iowa, @ Minnesota
Auburn Tigers (5-1), My Prediction: NR, 7-5
The Auburn Tigers have been another team that has mainly stepped up to the plate and delivered, losing a physical game against a Florida Gator team in the Swamp.
By the midway point of the season, I figured Auburn would have two losses (against Florida and Texas A&M). However, the Tigers stepped up against the Aggies who have been one of the underachieving teams this season, (more on that later).
Bo Nix has played well as a true freshman, but with games still to play against LSU, Georgia and Alabama, Auburn could easily end up at 8-4.
Remaining key games: @ LSU, Georgia, Alabama
Arizona State Sun Devils (5-1), My Prediction: NR, 6-6
The Arizona State Sun Devils under Herm Edwards have put together an impressive season with a chance to put themselves in the drivers seat of the Pac-12 South this Saturday against Utah, also 5-1.
If the Sun Devils can beat the Utes, the schedule opens up with a late season clash with the Oregon Ducks being by far their toughest test. Their defense, which has played well except for their one loss against Colorado, could lead them to a division title.
Remaining key games: @ Utah, Oregon, Arizona
