No. 3 Michael Jenkins

If you had to point out one play every Buckeye fan remembers from the 2002 National Championship season it includes Michael Jenkins.

“Holy Buckeye,” the game-winning touchdown against Purdue is one of the most famous Buckeye football moments of all-time and for good reason. It was a crazy play made by talented players and Michael Jenkins made that clutch catch.

Jenkins racked up stats during his three-year career, one that was largely marked by impressive consistency during his sophomore through senior seasons.

In 2001, Jenkins had 836 yards on 41 catches and 3 touchdown receptions. His 2002 season will go down as one of the best of any Buckeye receiver as he brought down 61 passes for 1,076 yards and 6 touchdowns, helping lead the Buckeyes to their 7th National Title.

He regressed a bit his senior season but it was still an impressive one as Jenkins caught 55 passes for 834 yards and 7 touchdowns. As you can imagine, with stats like those Jenkins is very high up on the Buckeye receiving leaderboards.

He ranks 3rd in career receptions with 165 and1st in career receiving yards with 2,898. Jenkins also tied for 8th in receptions in a season as well as 4th for receiving yards in a season.

What is probably the most impressive stat in out of all of his is that he played 39 games at Ohio State and had a reception in 38 of them. Crazily, Jenkins never made an All-Big Ten First-Team as he made the second team in 2002 and was honorable mention in 2003.

No matter the lack of awards that Jenkins had, he will always be remembered by Buckeye fans as a crucial part to that 2002 National Championship winning team.
