Ohio State Football: 2019 CFB season predictions
The greatest goal in college football is to raise the golden trophy at the end of the year. The regular season has been projected. The conference champions have been picked. Now, who will triumph for college football greatest prize?
But before that, here are my projections for the New Year’s Six bowls, starting with the famous Cotton Bowl at opulent AT&T Stadium.
Cotton Bowl Classic: #16 Cincinnati vs. #8 Florida
AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX
The AAC Champion Bearcats (11-3, 7-1 AAC) will come into Jerry’s World hoping to emulate the success of UCF in 2017 when they defeated Auburn in Atlanta.
Cincy will face the Gators (11-2, 6-2 SEC) in an exciting matchup. Bearcats hang tough but falter to the Gators, who reach 11 wins for the first time since 2012.
Florida 38, Cincinnati 27
Orange Bowl: #9 Notre Dame vs. #18 Virginia
Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, FL
In the only rematch of the NY6 bowls, the Cavaliers (10-4, 6-2 ACC) recover from their tough loss to Clemson in Charlotte to get revenge on the Fighting Irish (10-3) and reach 10 wins for the first time since 1989.
Virginia 27, Notre Dame 23
Rose Bowl: #7 Michigan vs. #11 Utah
Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA
The Wolverines (11-2, 6-2 Big Ten) will have a defensive showdown with the Utes (10-4, 6-3 Pac 12) in Pasadena. Their offense will barely win out, closing out a good but disappointing season.
Michigan 17, Utah 10
Sugar Bowl: #5 Georgia vs. #6 Oklahoma
Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, LA
The Bulldogs (11-3, 7-1 SEC) face a deeply disappointed Sooners (13-1, 7-1 Big 12) squad. Jalen Hurts leads the way to a hard-fought classic and rematch of the historic 2018 Rose Bowl.
Oklahoma 45, Georgia 42
With the NY6 games out of the way, it’s time to reveal my playoff predictions.
